Al Habtoor Motors unveils the new JAC JS6 SUV in the UAE

JAC Motors, in collaboration with its exclusive distribution partner in the UAE, Al Habtoor Motors, unveiled the new JAC JS6 SUV earlier this month. The JAC JS6 has been announced as the Chinese brand’s flagship model in the region, featuring a chassis design based on the company’s new MIS architecture. In the UAE, JAC Motors has been retailing two crossover/SUV models – JAC S3 Plus and JAC JS4. The arrival of the larger JS6 will definitely help expand the Chinese brand’s portfolio in the Middle East.

The unveiling of the new JAC JS6 at the brand’s Deira showroom was attended by Ahmed Khalaf Al Habtoor and Karim Maksoud, CEO of Al Habtoor Motors and Managing Director of Al Habtoor Motors, respectively. Representing the automaker at the event was Xiang Xingchu (General Manager of JAC Motors), followed by Oscar Yu (Deputy General Manager of JAC International), Andy Liu (Assistant General Manager of JAC International), and Feng Liangsen (Secretary of the Board). Also in attendance was H.E. Zhang Yiming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the UAE.

JAC JS6 Design

The exterior styling of the JAC JS6 follows the Chinese brand’s so-called "Aesthetic of the Times" design language. Focusing on the sleek LED light band and a muscular-looking bumper at the front of the JS6, this design philosophy draws attention towards the stacked “galaxy” headlights and the equally eye-catching "double Beidou" LED taillights.

The 3D-style rear lights aren’t the only visually impressive feature at the rear of the JAC JS6. The rear of the JS6 looks modern and sporty, which has been shaped thanks to the stylish roof spoiler, full-width LED taillight, dual tailpipes, and an aggressively styled black plastic trim on the bumper. The 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels look fairly good as well, and there is a shiny bit of trim that runs from the door mirrors to the rear of the C-pillars.

The JAC JS6 might not boast the most contemporary design of any crossover SUV currently on the market. Still, it does feature enough styling cues that might bring it to the attention of those who like the general design of the JS4, but only in a larger package. Speaking of which, the JAC JS6 measures 4,605 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, and 1,700 mm in height. The wheelbase of the JS6 spans 2,720 mm, which is 100 mm longer than that of the JS4.

Compared to the interior of the JS4, the design language used in the new JS6’s cabin is far more impressive and modern. Not only does the entire cabin feature a cleaner design with better technology integration and a cleaner layout, but the JAC JS6 seems to get higher quality materials, stitched effect on several surfaces, and also swanky patterns on the door pads & speakers.

There are metallic and faux leather trim as well, which helps boost the appeal of this cabin. The JS6 gets a fancy-looking touch-sensitive HVAC panel, along with paddle shifters and a rotary transmission knob with knurled finish. The well-bolstered front seats feature a sporty design, while the dual-pane sunroof allows for a more roomy cabin experience. Given its longer wheelbase, the JS6’s rear seats offer better legroom than the JS4, with there being enough convenient cubbies to enhance practicality.

JAC JS6 Features

As expected from a modern-day crossover SUV, the new JAC JS6 comes with the kind of equipment that buyers in this day & age want. The JS6’s features list includes items like automatic climate control, electrically operated front seats with memory & heating functions, an 8-speaker audio system, wireless charging, automatic wipers, automatic LED headlights, an electric tailgate, and a touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

When it comes to the safety technology of the JAC JS6, there is adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, frontal collision warning, blind-spot warning, rear parking sensors, 360-degree cameras, TPMS, and up to 6 airbags.

JAC JS6 Performance

The JAC JS6 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out 181 hp and 280 Nm of maximum torque. This four-cylinder motor is hooked up to a 6-speed wet-clutch DCT gearbox, which drives the front wheels. If performance is really your priority, then the JS6 will not blow your hats off. Even though the JS6 takes its own sweet time to hit 100 km/h, it can hit 180 km/h if pushed hard enough.
