Quick Overview

The all new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder is a big step up from its predecessor. It is much better looking, has more dynamic styling and is much more refined. It is designed to be more like a large crossover than an outright off-roader, offering a very easy drive and good value. It's rivals include the Honda Pilot, the Ford Explorer and Hyundai Grand Santa Fe.

The 2014 Nissan Pathfinder is very different from the old generation. It's lower, wider stance make it look more appealing. The long lines and swooping curves make for a very fluid and attractive design. The 2014 Pathfinder now sits on a platform that is shared with the Nissan Maxima, which means it now behaves more like a car than a proper 4x4. That said, it will handle well with the new set up while having a smooth ride. All versions of the Pathfinder share the same engine, a brawny 3.5 litre V6 with 254 HP. However it is mated to a CVT (continuously variable transmission) gearbox, which is known to be a bit noisy. Despite the bigger body and having all wheel drive, the Pathfinder is not suited for desert or very rough terrain, rather it's limited to city centres and highways.

The interior of 2014 Nissan Pathfinder is a definite step in the right direction; it feels more luxurious than utilitarian. With a strong influence from Nissan Maxima, it now gains some much needed inspiration though the fake wood trim is a letdown. This big 7 seat SUV is spacious and the materials are high quality and soft touch. The standard S model has 18 inch alloys, three zone climate control, a 7 inch display with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. With competitive pricing, it provides good value for money.
