Quick Review

The 2012 Camaro is more powerful than ever; so if you’re looking for a muscle car with retro styling, it’s well worth taking a look at.

The 3.6 liter V6 engine has been boosted from 312 to 323hp, while the 6.2 liter V8 SS model stays strong at 426hp.

This car is great for those wanting maximum driving performance, but not so great if you’re in need of head room – something that’s lacking in this model. The visibility can also be poor, with the high beltline making it hard for smaller drivers to see out. You wouldn’t expect this to be the most practical car, and indeed, the back seats are only suitable for the smallest of passengers, and there’s minimal luggage capacity.

The ride quality is good and the cabin is quiet, despite the power that’s on tap. The ZL1 is the real performer though, with excellent steering and crisp handling.

One of the Camaro’s main competitors is of course the 2012 Ford Mustang. Compared to the ZL1, the Ford Mustang Boss is lighter, but has lesser horsepower. The Camaro also has independent rear suspension and great steering, feeling closer to that of recent supercars and high end GTs.

Driving performance is the main asset of this car, and Chevrolet has mastered it with the 2012 Camaro.
