Imported used cars will be inspected upon registration to ensure technical faults are not present, as reported by Gulf News. The inspection will be implemented by the interior ministry in coordination with ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology).

According to Lt. Col. Suhail Al Khalili who is head of vehicle licensing at the Abu Dhabi Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Directorate, the new procedure will involve issuing vehicle examination certifications during the registration process to ensure there are no technical faults.
