Genesis G70 Reaches UAE Showrooms

Cementing itself as a thoroughbred luxury maker in the UAE, Genesis has unveiled its latest offering, the G70 facelift which is now available at Juma Al Majid Est. dealerships across all emirates. The G70 is essentially the entry-point into the Genesis family of cars and goes up against segment stalwarts such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, Jaguar XE and the Volvo S60. Evolving its aura from a sports sedan to keeping itself in line with the brand’s philosophy of ‘sports elegance,’ it aims to provide a fusion of sporty credentials and elegance which are essential attributes for an executive sedan.

DESIGN

It provides the prima-facie of understated elegance from every angle. Clearly identifiable design cues are its hunkered down stance loaned by a drooping hood featuring several creases, the signature Genesis grille with gaudy honeycomb pattern accentuating its posh design and swanky air intakes making it appear in-your-face. 

As with many sedans of neoteric times, the G70 flanks its coupe profile at the side for a taut and unmistakable fastback layout. Crisp lines contribute towards revealing stately panache and a small indentation near the fender imparts good aggression to its design.

 At the rear, a stubby boot adds good heft to its appeal and the split tail lamps show that it’s a facelift. The shark-fin antenna on the roof and the dual-exhaust pipes curate a youthful appeal which buyers in the UAE are likely to appreciate.

INTERIOR

The car provides ease of functionality through a 10.25-inch touch-screen interface which can be used to access menus and functions such as maps, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and reverse parking camera. 

It boasts of features such as voice recognition, weather information, 15-speaker Lexicon music system, wireless charging, head-up display, instrument binnacle which changes colour according to the drive mode selected with 3D screen which allows you to view the car from every angle, 10 airbags and a Personal Profile feature which automatically adjusts your preferred seat positions, cluster information, infotainment system, head-up display, drive modes and air conditioning settings according to the information stored by it. These settings will restore the moment you select your profile and make it easier for you to simply start the engine and get going. 

The G70 also scores high on the safety front with features such as forward-collision warning, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, rear-cross traffic alert, tail lamps angled to aid you judge better of the objects lying behind the car, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

PERFORMANCE

The G70 is available with two powertrain options. For starters, there’s a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill capable of churning out 250 hp and 360 Nm of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Power is channelled to only the rear wheels. For those rummaging a more athletic G70, there’s a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged gasoline powered motor which flexes to provide 370 hp and 520 Nm of torque. The grunt is accessible by all four wheels with the 3.3-litre iteration.

The G70 tucks itself in one of the most competitive segments where the fray has got a lot more challenging in the past few years. It’s distinctive styling along with the slew of safety and convenience features it has to brag about makes it a great buy in its segment.
