Nissan Patrol sets new world record

Nissan Patrol towed a 170.9 tonne cargo plane to set a new world record, previously held by Volkswagen Touareg for towing a 155 tonne Boeing 747. The initiative was taken by Nissan Middle East along with their partners, Sharjah Aviation Authority and Rus Aviation, who provided the Ilyushin IL-76 cargo plane for the feat. The guys from Guinness Book of World Records were also there to verify the accuracy of the event and declared a new world record has been set. The Patrol proceeded to tow the plane for 50 meters, which we captured on video here: 

The event is a culmination of a project that began last year, when Nissan Middle East invited fans to offer ideas on the "next big challenge" for Patrol. After many online votes, ideas and discussions, the idea which received the most positive response was this:

Based on the audience feedback, Nissan Middle East launched this event and it resulted in a Guinness World Record.
