Magazines are publishing with electrifying velocity, the reveals, launches and progress of electric cars and other forms of electric mobility. Throwing a Javelin hard to smitten on the word ‘sustainability,’ automakers are shifting their focus towards electric mobility with profound impact and aplomb to assuage the sepulchral aftermath of environment degradation owing to impetuous extraction of resources and using those to create products and appliances which vilipend our future generation’s quality of life.

Known for sheer safety it offers with its cars, the Swedish automaker Volvo has just taken the wraps off its most astounding invention yet, the XC40 Recharge, a compact SUV which aims to punch harder than its weight with a brand new architecture ground-up to support even the future EVs from the brand. For Volvo marketing inkhorns, it features floor mats which are made out of recycled plastic. Compared against its gasoline counterpart for a mileage of 200,000 Km, the car leaves a much lesser carbon footprint, especially against the T5 trim. The battery is toothsome enough to envelope 78 kWh of charge which provides a claimed 418km of range until the battery runs out of breath.

Being unveiled at the recently launched Volvo Studio in Jebel Ali area, the car promises refinement and a different driving experience altogether. The Volvo Studio bequeaths a newer car buying experience to the potential customers by augmenting personalisation, subscriptions and seeks to provide an immaculate level of service.

Oscar Rivoli, Managing Director of Trading Enterprises said, “Al-Futtaim Automotive provides innovative mobility solutions and services that our customers want and deserve to keep the UAE moving towards building a more sustainable future of mobility. In line with Expo2020sustainability pillar and our electrification strategy, we are proud to be the first market in the GCC to launch the zero emission all-electric XC40 Recharge. The future of Volvo Cars is electric, and the launch of this model is the first in a dedication to a zero-emission future. We will continue to support and promote Volvo’s electrification strategy and its overarching commitment to sustainability by selling only electric vehicles by 2030.”

An encouraging reason to launch the XC40 Recharge into the UAE is the fact that its sales figures are driven by optimism from its consumers. The share of cars with fully-electric powertrains amounted to a stonking 25.5% of all Volvo cars sold worldwide for the first 10 months to October 31. In the last month of this period itself, the contribution of the brand’s BEV cars was an astounding 31.5% of the total sales as people gradually take up to electric cars to sample these and ascertain their worth in the real world against the fuel prices which would’ve to be paid in case of gasoline engines. To provide seamless procedure to its customers right from viewing and customisation to delivery for their XC40 BEV, the car will be available to book online as well. This move is in line with its Omnichannel strategy to nullify the shortcomings of physical purchase and delivery while boosting e-sales contemporaneously. The world-class Volvo studio is the official partner of the Swedish Pavilion at Expo 2020 and is located at the Dubai Festival Plaza area of Jebel Ali. Its opening hours are from 10 am to 10 pm.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge is one of the very few full-fed EVs in its segment. Do you think this pioneering new-age product from Volvo has what it takes to sway buyers from purchasing its ICE alternatives? Let us know in the comments.
