So what is it?

Polestar is the racing partner of Volvo which creates special vehicles out of regular Volvo models. Think of Polestar as the AMG for Volvo. The company transforms a family car into a sporty family car. One of their projects is the Volvo S60. They took the sedan and dipped it in blue (known as Rebel Blue) color and gave it a specially tuned engine, wheels, suspension, badges and drive to name a few. To me, the S60 Polestar looks like an entirely new car.

Key Features:
Engine 3.0 liter inline-six - 345 BHP / 500 Nm
Transmission 6-Speed Automatic
Price AED 210,000

Coming to the specifications, the Volvo S60 Polestar is powered by a turbocharged inline-six cylinder engine producing 345 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. This powerful engine is mated to a tuned six speed automatic transmission. Couple this with an all-wheel-drive system and you have got yourself a car capable of reaching 100 km/h from standstill in under 5 seconds. There are Ohlin dampers as well that are 80-percent stiffer than the ones found in the regular S60. Moreover, there is a special exhaust note as well which makes it sound like a track animal.

How is it?

The Volvo S60 Polestar is definitely a special car to drive. It is a totally different vehicle under that S60 body. However, it is no track animal. The car is much better than to drive than the base S60 but it still is heavy on the corners and understeers. But, that doesn’t mean it is uncontrollable. No, the S60 Polestar still manages to provide a calm and composed ride but don’t take it on the track as it is not meant for that.

Coming to the interior, well, there is just enough legroom for adults at the back. Though, I wish there would have been more space. The Volvo City Safety system works for the best and keeps Volvo’s name intact as the world’s safest car. The car is packed with all the necessary features so you won’t be missing anything major.

Is it worth it?

Well, for 210k AED, you are getting an all-round package. There is power, looks and Volvo safety packed in one. It might not be the beast you were expecting but it can please you.
