Ralf Bissinger - the Sales & Marketing Director of BMW Middle East had this to say at the Qatar Motor Show.
Qatar is an extremely important market for us in the region of the ME and I am very glad to be at Qatar Motor Show 2016. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Alfardan Group for their contribution to our success as a BMW Group Middle East for 2015. Without our partners at Alfardan Group, we would not have achieved the success we enjoyed in 2015 and the region. BMW ME achieved a 6-consecutive sales growth by selling 33,100 BMW cars last year. This an 11% growth over previous year and outperforming again the premium segment in the region.
It is through the dedication, the investment and the service orientation of our partners such as Alfardan Group here in Qatar representing the true spirit of our company.
2015 was the year of the X5 and the X6, over 45% of our sales volume in 2015 was the contribution of a success story of the X-Model range. 2016 will be the year of the 7-Series. We already delivered in the first 2 months of its availability (the new 7-Series was made available December 2015) over 1,000 units of the 7-series here in the region.

It is an important region for us, we assure with the new segment series, model extension and engine extension as we see here today with the BMW 740 Li. We have also reached another sales record in the region in the year of this segment.
Today we have 1 out of 6 special 7-Series built worldwide. The most expensive BMW ever built - It is the Solitaire edition and there is only one in Qatar delivered by our BMW Individual – comprising the finest material interior trims. This edition specifically designed for the Middle East is fitted 5 1 carat diamonds in the interior. What we have today is a very unique product that further enhances the 7-Series positioning as a segment leader in driving conform, luxury and technical innovations.
2016 also brings to the market our 2nd Generation X1, providing us in the region with new customer groups, access to further growth and opportunities and further growing our already strong BMW X-Range. Last but not least today, is to see one of the most exciting products to be shown here at the Qatar Motor Show. This is the first ever BMW M2. Only recently shown and launched at the Detroit Motor Show, this is the regional premier of the M2. Again, M last year saw a growth of a 100% in the region. A true representation of the importance of our M-products: the drivability and pure emotion. The roots of the M2 were the famous 2002 Tii and the first E30 M3 are reborn in the package the BMW M2 offers.
