Unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Jaguar I Pace is the British marque’s first electric sports car and is one of the most striking concepts ever produced by the brand. An aesthetic masterpiece, the I Pace Concept combines design cues from the C-X75 supercar with the smooth silhouette of a coupe into a five-seater SUV.

“The I-PACE Concept is a radical departure for electric vehicles. It represents the next generation of battery electric vehicle design. It’s a dramatic, future-facing design – the product of authentic Jaguar DNA matched with beautiful, premium details and British craftsmanship”, said Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar.
Without an internal combustion engine and transmission tunnel, the I-PACE Concept’s design brings the cabin forward, extends the wheelbase and shortens the overhangs. In turn, it lends the vehicle a more aerodynamic stance and allows for greater space within the cabin.
Inside, the instrument panel is positioned low and its simple horizontal lines and minimalist switchgear help further emphasise the cabin’s size. The interior’s finishes create rich textural contrasts. Windsor leather covers the front of the seats, laser-cut with Jaguar’s signature lozenge motif, sewn with contrasting twin-needle stitching and edged with coloured carbon fibre trim.

With electric motors at the front and rear axles, the I Pace delivers 400 horsepower and 700 Nm of instant torque to all four corners. Dip the accelerator pedal and the I Pace is claimed to hit the 100 km/h mark in a matter of just four seconds. Drive sensibly, however, and you could well cover a range of 500 kilometres.
While that’s all we know for now, there’s little doubt that I Pace is well on its way to redefining the electric car realm.
