First Look: 2015 Volkswagen Golf R

Golf lovers have a reason to rejoice! The new Golf R is finally here – in August. This is the most powerful Golf ever made by Volkswagen and it is expected to wow the fans. Even though the overall look of the car is not much different from the standard model, there are, however, some distinctive features as listed below:

- Newly designed U- shaped LED daytime lamps

- Matte chrome door mirrors

- Dark red LED rear lights

- Twin-branch exhaust with 4 chrome tailpipes

- Large air inlets in the front bumper

- Modified radiator grille

- Black brake calipers

- 'R’ logo decorated in the exterior and interior

- 18” black alloys

- Carbon touch inlays

Other standard features include smart entry and start, PDC (including rear camera), leather steering, climate control and infotainment system.

Coming to the meat, the Golf R is powered by the same 2.0 liter engine; turbocharged to produce a whopping 280 BHP with 380 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox and power is transferred to an expected AWD system. The result: 0-100 in 5.0 seconds and reaching top speed of 250 km/h. The handling is not sacrificed in pursuit of power as the car is lowered by 20 mm with the option to turn off traction control completely.
