EV News: Polestar is coming to the UAE!

We’ve got some really good news for you if you’re looking to buy an EV - Polestar is coming to the UAE! But before we go any further and talk about the Swedish brand’s first offering, let’s talk about what polestar is.

Polestar was originally Volvo’s motorsport division but then the hype about it toned down. To give it a new lease of life Volvo made it a standalone EV company which the Swedish brand now jointly owns Geely. Polestar offers the safety and comfort of a Volvo with zero emissions. The perfect combination, right?

Now let’s talk about its first offering - the Polestar 2. Avid car enthusiasts will remember that Polestar did launch the 1 as its first car but that was a limited edition, the 2 is where things get very very serious for the company. With the 2, Polestar has rolled out a complete electric vehicle which has all the power and torque of a proper EV along with the all-rounder capabilities ranging from its cosy interior to subtle and futuristic exterior.

Unlike most EVs these days, cars from Polestar will not brag about 0-100kph times. Instead, as CEO Thomas Ingenlath (ex-Volvo design boss) says, Polestars will always be reliable, boast good build quality and offer the best ownership experiences to customers. So things are looking quite bright.

“Polestar 2 is a very attractive, powerful car with an avant-garde, modern design that really stands out and our customers are very passionate about it,” says Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath. “It is that perfect combination of key attributes when it comes to the pleasure of driving, the joy and the fun of it – the emotional aspect.”

In the UAE, Polestar will be making its first forays with the reputed Al-Futtaim group as its distributor. Nils Mösko, Head of Strategy and Business Development at Polestar, said: “We are excited to bring Polestar to the United Arab Emirates. As a premium electric challenger brand, we found a natural partner in Al-Futtaim Group, and we are pleased to join their portfolio of automotive brands.”
