Aston Martin and Brough Superior reveal AMB 001 Pro Track Superbike

Aston Martin, one of the stalwarts in manufacturing sport and track-focussed cars, has revealed a hyperbike christened AMB 001 Pro, meant exclusively for the track in collaboration with the legendary Brough Superior. This collaboration has resulted in a bike that combines design prowess of Aston Martin and innovative engineering of Brough Superior.

The palpable 997cc was revealed at the famed EICMA Milan Motorcycle Show where it wowed the onlookers with its palatable design that received inspiration from the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro hypercar.

Limited to just 88 units, the AMB 001 Pro has been made stronger by 25% in terms of output which is now bumped to 225 hp. This increase results in a power-to-weight ratio akin to a Formula One® car of 1.28 hp/kg.

The bike also serves as a requiem to its predecessor, the AMB 001 which was also received at EICMA in 2019 making it the maiden motorcycle coming from the British marque that has been long associated with the James Bond series. Back then, the duo revealed an elegant performance machine that looked the part, was quirky, bantamweight and extremely vehement. That bike had a production run restricted to just 100 units and stands sold out.

A distinctive feature of this bike is its engine. The dual-cylinder 997cc engine has been fully extracted from aluminium AL 5000 solid billet. This improves the stiffness of the engine structure while a novel design with wet cylinder liners plays a great role in cooling the motorcycle.

Being a track-focussed machine, focus has been given on increasing its downforce via front spoiler and side wings. The design flows without any break by incorporating a cowl which comes attached to the body instead of a separate section for effective downforce to keep the bike firm rooted with the ground surface and inspire confidence. A tunnel like air blade is part of the body work that channels wind over the rider. The mechanism has been designed where air enters through a large intake mounted with the front wing which then moves along the surface of the front cowl, only to be deflected through the adjustable windshield to enhance aerodynamic efficiency. The rear has been conferred with an aero stabiliser design to enliven the aerodynamics further.

Besides the ground-breaking design and extreme performance, the AMB 001 Pro has to rodomontade a unique shade of Verdant Jade which contrasts with satin finished carbon-fibre and black Cerakote for the engine and suspension. To pay a scrumptious homage to the long lineage of legacy dawned several of Aston Martin’s track users, Photon Lime bits have been merged with the livery.

Another unique design element to behold is the Aston Martin ‘Lacewing’ insignia that’s no less than a whopper being 99.4% lighter than the marque’s standard emblem. Having a thickness of just 70 microns, it is 30% thinner than even human hair! This will come laden on the front cowl and tank, atop the paint but underneath a suave covering of lacquer. 

The bike’s production will take place at Brough Superior’s manufacturing plant in Toulouse, France and will be hand-built. To imbibe the state-of-the-art motorcycle’s flair, the bike was parked alongside the Valkyrie AMR Pro hypercar. Deliveries are set to commence from Q4 of 2023.

The rider is part of this moving sculpture and will literally feel as though they are part of the track when laying atop the AMB 001 Pro”.
