The Roewe RX5, built with state-owned manufacturer SAIC, is the Chinese giant’s first automobile following a year of intense research. With deliveries set to commence in August, the Roewe RX5 is already available for pre-orders and will feature a smart dashboard based on Alibaba’s YunOS which powers devices such as phones, tablets, refrigerators and air conditioners.

According to the video seen above, Alibaba executives explain that the RX5 is unique, in that it can pay for fuel without the driver having to take out a credit card or pay through a mobile application. Due to its web connectivity, it can also send a signal to the A/C units at home to switch on before you arrive – a blessing in the sweltering heat of the UAE had the Roewe RX5 been available in our market.
