Four Reasons The 2017 Ford Raptor Is The Ultimate Off Road Warrior

Surpassing expectations, the Ford Raptor has been a sales success since it debuted nearly a decade ago in 2009. A dedicated off-roader, the Raptor has built a reputation for traversing the tallest of dunes, conquering the most challenging of wadis, and overcoming obstacles with a combination of brute force and intelligent technology. Now in its second generation, the all-new 2017 Ford Raptor makes the best even better.
Power, Power, Power!
Having downsized its powerplant from a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 to a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, the new Raptor was welcomed with a generous serving of skepticism, up until it revealed its power figures of 415 horsepower and 678 Nm of torque – a bump of 4 horsepower and 90 Nm over its predecessor. Along with a bump in power, the turbocharged unit delivers peak power lower down the rev range and is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Improved Agility
The first mass-produced aluminum truck, the 2017 Ford Raptor fuses an aluminum alloy body to a steel frame, improving strength while still saving weight in comparison to the previous-generation model. With an improved power-to-weight ratio, the all-new Raptor offers improved agility and handling over all terrains.
All Terrain Conqueror
Equipped with a terrain management system, the 2017 Ford Raptor is fitted with six drive modes (Normal, Sport, Weather, Mud/Sand, Rock Crawl, Baja) to conquer anything and everything in its path. With each mode altering the engine mapping, transmission shift patterns, and steering heft, the Raptor is a multi-skilled resource in an off-roader’s arsenal of vehicles.

No Compromises

With increased rear shock canisters, greater suspension travel, and BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires, it’s comfortable and capable on tarmac and off the beaten path.
